Meeting

We are a vibrant church with people from all ages and from several different ethnic backgrounds. We are not part of a particular denomination, though we work in partnership with other church congregations in Loughborough and with a group of worldwide congregations called Together.

King's Church welcomes everyone to come and meet God for yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been going to church for a long time, or if you’ve never visited a church before. We'll do our best to make you feel welcome, and our meetings reflect this. Friendly people, authentic worship, and challenging content combine with a warm atmosphere. We are confident that you will experience God's love when you're with us.

Mike and Heather Hughes

Although originally from South Wales and Chesterfield, Mike and Heather both ended up in Loughborough in 1993, and got married in Loughborough in 1994. At the time Heather was teaching in a Primary School, and Mike was a full-time evangelist, schools worker, and youth pastor employed by King’s Church.

Heather began full-time Bible College at Covenant College in September 1995, the same college that Mike attended from 1992 to 1994. Her studies were cut short when they moved to York in December 1995 to lead a congregation there.

After 6 fruitful years in York, they moved back to Loughborough in August 2001. Mike now carries overall leadership responsibility to the church and the leadership team.

Mike and Heather have two daughters, Megan and Ellie.

Steve and Helen Moses

Steve, originally from Hampshire and Helen, from Lincolnshire met at University in London. They both attended Covenant College in 1993 and then spent two years in Nottingham before moving to Loughborough in 1995.

They are both teachers! Steve is a part time primary school teacher in Leicester and together Steve and Helen manage the Small World Nursery School.

Steve and Helen work closely together to look after people across the congregation. They often run our Alpha Courses and get involved with those new to following Jesus. Helen is also recognised as a 'prophet', i.e. someone who is good at hearing God and bringing his message to us.

Richard and Lyn White

Richard and Lyn originate from London and met as students in Portsmouth. They married in 1970 and Richard worked as a lecturer in Further Education whilst Lyn was a hospital pharmacist. They moved from Suffolk to Bradford in 1974 and were for many years part of Abundant Life Church in the city.

They moved to Loughborough in 2001 and Richard worked for six years an Education Inspector with Leicester City Council but is now a self-employed education consultant. They have two children: Trenna and husband Andrew and their three children Ethan, Anya and Caleb live in Loughborough and are youth deacons in King's Church; Gavin and wife Rachel and their two children live in Manchester where they are in eldership in King's Church Manchester.

Richard and Lyn provide pastoral leadership across many areas of the life of the church family.

Jane and Jeremy Williams

Jane and Jeremy met during a year-long outreach programme, and married in 1992. They moved to Loughborough in 1995 to attend Covenant College, and have been here ever since.

Jane works full-time in the King's Church office and manages the church administration as well as providing pastoral leadership.

Jeremy works part-time in the church office and is also an accountancy trainer and consultant for Mercia Group Ltd. He primarily oversees Bible teaching, worship and publicity for the church.

Loughborough skyline

Loughborough is a thriving market town with a large university contributing to a relatively cosmopolitan feel. It is the largest town in Leicestershire and lies at the heart of England, less than 20 miles from the cities Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. Loughborough is pronounced 'Lufbra'!

History of King's Church PDF Print E-mail

King's Church has been around in Loughborough for over 25 years. We began as an offshoot of Leicester Christian Fellowship, and originally met in homes before buying a property which tragically burned to the ground some years later!

In the early 1990s we purchased the Schofield Centre, a former engineering college named after its founder, Herbert Schofield, the visionary who began what is now Loughborough's world-class university. As well as hosting the church offices and our Sunday meetings, the Schofield Centre (or the Skofe to the rest of us!) is also home to the Small World Nursery and TwentyTwenty, a pioneering youth charity.

Very few members of King's Church have been around since the beginning. Many people are local, while others came to Loughborough to study and ended up staying!
